What would it be like if we live in a future where there would be no more furniture as we know it. The furniture that is present in this future is made by the user. We are going to create our furniture ourselves by using hand weaving techniques. The materials we then use are textile tubes that have different lengths, thicknesses and colors. With these tubes we will 3D weave, knit, braid and knot by hand to create our furniture.
Because we create our furniture in this way, we can make it to our own preference. If we would like a larger piece of furniture in the future, we only have to weave a extra piece to it. And if we want to make a completely new piece of furniture, we can return our textile tubes or exchange them at the store where the come from.
Because it is a modular and circular system, our furniture will not become waste in the future, but it will remain an endless construction and exchange system.
To make our furniture we use basic hand weaving techniques. Hand weaving is an old craft. By looking at the technique with a contemporary perspective, it also breathes new life into the traditional craft of hand weaving.
